Behind the Color

Laurie CARTOON

Contemporary & Digital Artist

Laurie CARTOON develops an artistic practice centred on memory, presence, and the transformation of images. Her work explores both the human face and empty spaces, conceived as sensitive territories where traces, silences, and visual remnants persist.

Trained in Haute Couture, she has transferred her attention to detail, materials, and light into a digital practice combining photography, digital painting, and artificial intelligence. This background informs a rigorous approach to composition and colour, serving images that are both carefully constructed and open to interpretation.

Her portrait series question identity and collective memory through familiar yet unstable figures, evoking fictional archives and suspended presences. In parallel, her landscape and architectural series — Architecture of Silence, Industrial Solitude, Call me back — focus on spaces devoid of explicit human presence, where architecture becomes a silent witness to past or suspended activity.

Artificial intelligence is integrated as a research tool within a demanding creative process, based on constant back-and-forth between artistic intention and algorithmic transformation. Far from automation, each image is refined and reworked until a formal and emotional balance is achieved.

Across all her series, Laurie CART👀N develops a coherent investigation into the persistence of images, the memory of places, and the way time shapes perception — whether through faces, landscapes, or silent spaces.

The CART👀N signature visually incorporates the motif of the gaze into the artist’s name, echoing themes of observation, perception, and memory that run throughout her work.

Motto

“Create with joy, colour and freedom.”

This motto reflects an artistic practice in which colour, light, and emotion remain essential driving forces of the creative process.
